Problem
While a bespoke propping solution wasn’t initially part of the scope, it was deemed a requirement for our customer after demolition began taking place, and the Heritage Council of NSW requested it be installed to help support the walls and façade, so Shore Hire was engaged by the client to create a propping solution for the front façade, however, there were a number of tricky obstacles and design factors such as tight access, a lack of footings and having to install props at odd angles in order to not impact any permanent structures.
Solution
Tight access in the laneway was a big hurdle, since we needed live traffic control as plant and machinery were required to position our Engineered Blocks during installation. Engineered blocks were the only feasible solution as the client couldn’t pour concrete footings on site, and there was no room to brace back internally that wouldn’t affect the permanent works.
We had to rig and install the temporary Aluminium Tilt Props so the client could continue doing all of their permanent works, so the solution was to not only hold the front façade but to make sure that none of our bracing was in the way of permanent works or other trades on site.
This is where the Shore Hire team stand out from the rest – not only did we design the temporary propping system, but we engaged and worked closely with all other parties involved in the project, with Shore Hire providing the solutions to be able to keep the works continuing on site. The Shore Hire team continue to push innovations in safety and efficiency on Australian job sites by constantly developing new proprietary items like our engineered blocks.
