Shore Hire’s Manufacturing Capability - Feature Image

Shore Hire, a United Rentals Company®, has full manufacturing capabilities and through our market expertise and customer feedback works in conjunction with our engineering team to design and create new products and bespoke solutions.

With a team of over 20 based across our Sydney and Moss Vale facilities, our manufacturing team builds several flag-ship Australian-made products, providing you with the very best solutions for your project.

Let’s take a closer look.

PROTOTYPING

Rather than aiming for the perfect prototype in the initial stages of the manufacturing process, the team adopts an iterative design ideology or step-by-step approach.

Early-stage prototypes are usually made in their most basic form, enabling the team to quickly test fundamental concepts and features. As the design progresses, the prototypes evolve, gradually adding more detail and functionality, until the team develops a final site-ready prototype that closely resembles a finished product.

Given the performance critical nature of our products, which are often responsible for supporting major loads and ensuring worker safety, the choice of the materials we use is imperative. The manufacturing team will closely imitate the materials that will be used, to ensure our prototypes offer a realistic representation of the end products’ functionality, weight, and strength.

TESTING AND FEEDBACK

Once the manufacturing team develops a prototype, the next step is testing.

Shore Hire has a range of testing equipment and methods that we use to test our products during the design and manufacturing process to ensure that every requisite Australian and local Standard is met, and safety checkbox is ticked when you use our products.

We apply a customer-centric approach to research and development, especially prototype and product testing, valuing feedback as one of the most crucial assets. Our manufacturing team engages with our product managers, sales team and customers regularly, gathering insights on product performance, safety nuances, and overall usability. This feedback is then incorporated into research and development initiatives to ensure every product reflects the evolving needs and challenges of the industry.

By understanding your challenges and requirements when it comes to shoring, propping, and traffic solutions, our manufacturing and engineering team can ensure that new products and equipment cater specifically to your needs. Gathering feedback from customers and rigorous testing, as well as on-site observations and in-depth review sessions, all help our team clearly outline the product design objectives.

MANUFACTURING AND ASSEMBLY

Our manufacturing and assembly processes combine our industry-leading equipment with skilled welders and fabricators who follow strict procedures to consistently deliver exceptional quality.

One of the most important aspects of our manufacturing process is our local knowledge of and ability to stay ahead of the curve on, worksite safety needs and regulations.

With a range of fitted-out manufacturing bays and skilled welders operating at Shore Hire sites, we always maintain an excellent quality of product, and adhere to or surpass all safety standards at our manufacturing locations.

sOURCING

Manufacturing in Australia allows our team to maintain strict quality control standards throughout the production process. With the support of our Materials and Resource Planning system our manufacturing team schedule production, create material traceability and can closely oversee every step—from sourcing raw materials through inhouse manufacturing process’ and final inspection—ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality standards.

This unwavering commitment to quality is essential because our manufacturing team knows you rely on our equipment for your safety, productivity, and the success of your projects.

Moss Vale, the region where our main manufacturing repairs facility is located, boasts a great talent pool of skilled labour and our new facility here will provide several opportunities for sourcing raw materials and other subcontract services to the local region. For more information on the facility, read about it here.

This local approach has meant that since opening our Moss Vale facility, we’ve been able to expand our repairs and manufacturing capabilities to better support you and the highest-quality and reliable products and services we can offer you.

rEPAIRS

If one of our products needs repair, we can transport it back to our central repair facility in Moss Vale to ensure all our equipment is maintained to the highest standard. We also have local repair capabilities depending on the product and extent of the necessary repairs.

Our Moss Vale facility assists Shore Hire and its customers by improving product availability, turnaround time on repairs, ensuring our repairs are done efficiently and safely with ample room to manoeuvre our larger equipment.

Every product that leaves our facility is thoroughly inspected to ensure it is 100% safe, and if it’s not, the consequences can be dire. It’s very important that our products are not only well designed and constructed, but also well maintained and inspected after every hire.
