Problem

A major Queensland infrastructure project with tight night shift windows required the client to have a shoring solution that could be trafficked by placing a steel plate lid over the top during the daytime.

The client’s task was to connect a water main along a heavily trafficked road in Indooroopilly. The client’s main concern was completing the works in a timely manner during the 9pm to 6am nightshift without disturbing the traffic during work. Due to the busy nature of the road, it was also a requirement that the road had to back to two lanes from 6 am onwards which meant that any excavation had to be either backfilled or covered.

Solution

Our engineering team came up with a bespoke trafficable steel plate solution that saved the client hours of labour per shift by not having to backfill the excavation and also allowed them to stay ahead of schedule, further reducing costs by not extending the project timeline.

Shore Hire was able to provide the client with RPEQ drawings, which they were then able to present to Main Roads who were incredibly happy with the result. Providing an effective solution to Main Roads allowed our clients to look reliable, and innovative and promote their status as the ‘best people to work with.’
