Road Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Every year, approximately 1200 people are killed and another 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads.

What is National Road Safety Week?

As these numbers continue to grow, we recognise National Road Safety Week (14 – 21 May 2023), an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group. The group was founded by Peter Frazer, after his 23-year-old daughter was killed by a distracted truck driver in an avoidable crash in the breakdown lane on the Hume Highway.

National Road Safety Week highlights the importance of driving safely, the impact of road trauma, ways to reduce it, and how you can drive so others survive.

How can Shore Hire help you?

One of the ways Shore Hire supports road safety is by offering a number of industry-leading traffic management products that help to keep roads safe during construction and road work projects, specifically our range of concrete and water-filled barriers.

Concrete barriers are an essential piece of traffic management equipment when protecting construction workers on a job site working in the middle or side of the road. They are durable and heavy-duty, and when coupled with our anti-gawk fencing, they are perfect for protecting workers from out-of-control cars, flying debris, and other accidents that can occur on job sites.

We offer the T-Lok precast Concrete Barrier, which has an Austroads Safety Barrier Acceptance Panel (ASBAP) approval to 80km/h, and have a range of features, including a swift lift integrated lifter for safe installation and lifting, and an interconnecting T-Lok locking system.

Water barriers are more light-weight than concrete barriers, but are perfect if you’re looking for a convenient, easy-to-transport option. We offer two types of water filled barriers, the SH 2000 and the Triton Barriers. It is important to note that these barriers are not to be used on major roads or where speed limits are enforced.

SH 2000 Water Filled Barriers are commonly used for crowd control and multipurpose delineation requirements, and once interlocked and filled with water on-site, they are a maintenance-free, sturdy barrier system with no pins to go missing.

Triton Barriers are one of our most popular traffic management solutions, due to their inexpensive transportability and quick setup time.
